The Situation of COVID-19 in Pakistan
Since, 25 April 2020 when the smart lockdown was imposed by the government of Pakistan, the daily number of COVID-19 cases is increasing rapidly. By 17 May 2020, there are a total of 42,125 confirmed cases, 11,922 recoveries, and 903 deaths in the country. The total number of active cases in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir is 10168, 11891, 3960, 2202, 877, 168, and 34. Punjab has the highest number of recoveries of 4918. The number of recoveries in Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, ICT, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir is 4209, 1783, 454, 113, 368, and 77, respectively.
More than 4.8 Million cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide with 317,204 deaths. Many countries when into partial or full lockdown to contain the virus and manage the load on their health system. Pakistan also went into complete lockdown for about a month. The lockdown helped in slowing down the spread rate of the outbreak in the country. But Later, the decision of smart lockdown by the government to facilitate daily wagers and small businesses resulted in an abrupt rise in cases.
